Discover Spain’s wild side with guided walking holidays in the National Parks of Andalusia.
The numerous and varied mountain ranges of this region have historically acted as a barrier to many things, whether invading armies, commercial agriculture, or coastal economic development. Exploring this region can prove challenging for even the most experienced of travellers.
We can help unlock the secrets of this fascinating region, whilst you get the most out of your holiday time. Our mountain base of Gaucín lies within a one hour drive of seven of Andalusia’s protected areas that conserve some of the regions most wild and iconic landscapes.
With an hour of our base we can explore the coastal and marsh habitats of the Mediterranean and take a boat into the Straits of Gibraltar: one of the world’s top destinations for witnessing annual whale and bird migrations. Also within an hour are the extensive forests and lush river valleys of Los Alcornocales and the rugged karst landscapes of Sierra de las Nieves and Grazalema, all of which offer some of Europe’s best hiking.
Our village base of Gaucín also backs on to Sierra el Hacho and the Valle del Genal, which although not yet formally recogniseded within Andalucia’s protected area network, also offer us fantastic walking and wildlife-watching opportunities right on our doorstep.
Our walk itineraries are tailor-made to fit our clients’ individual preferences and budget, and range from two hour and half day hikes, to more challenging week-long itineraries such as Smugglers’ Way – a 6 day/7 night hiking trail from Ronda City to the Mediterranean Sea.
We have a number of different accommodation options available, from simple one and two bedroom village houses for those on a limited budget, to more luxurious properties with private swimming pools and gardens. All our rental properties have an outside terrace or balcony showcasing Gaucín’s famous views.
